Attached are 5 coding scenarios. You will be graded as follows: For each scenario you can earn 20 points 5 points for each correct DRG (that’s 10 points) 5 points for your DRG change explanation 5 points for your coding HITT 2108 DRG Assignment Coding Scenarios 2026.docDownload HITT 2108 DRG Assignment Coding Scenarios 2026.doc HITT 2108 DRG worksheet – 2026.docDownload HITT 2108 DRG worksheet – 2026.doc You are to code each of them utilizing the 3M encoder and choosing the DRGFinder product. Make sure your abstract data information is correct (pt sex, age, and disposition). It is recommended to work on each scenario one at a time. 1. Code the scenario, when finished write down the DRG and the weight. Do NOT DELETE or move to next patient 2. Next, you are to add the following diagnosis(es) or procedures that correspond to the case scenario. (See below) 3. Save your coding summary to turn in. 4. Utilizing both what you wrote down and the second coding summary, fill out the DRG worksheet for each scenario. **You are to turn in the 2nd coding summary with the added diagnosis and the completed worksheet for each scenario Add the following: (So, for example, scenario 1; you will add the procedure of TPA via peripheral vein to the original coding.) Add a procedure of TPA via peripheral vein Add an additional diagnosis of Chronic Kidney Disease, End stage Add an additional diagnosis of acute blood loss anemia and a procedure of transfusion of whole blood via peripheral vein Add an additional diagnosis of respiratory failure with hypoxia and procedure of endotrachaeal intubation and mechanical ventilation for 24-96 hours Add an additional diagnosis of severe protein calorie malnutrition and a BMI of 24.7 Patient is an 84-year-old woman who has a history of type 2 diabetes mellitus, which is managed with an insulin antidiabetic medication. She was admitted for treatment of a stroke. The major manifestations were ptosis of the right eyelid, moderate expressive aphasia, right to left disorientation, and a slow, shuffling gait. On a CT of the head, a low-density area was seen at the posterior limb of the left internal capsule and the left posterior parietal subcortical white matter consistent with a cerebrovascular infarction of the left posterior artery, thromboembolic source. No hemorrhage was viewed. Gradually, the manifestations improved and then resolved. The patient also had a diabetic left mid-foot ulcer that required bedside debridement (using a Versajet) by the physician. She was discharged home and to be followed by home health nursing.
