I’m looking for a sudden onset which could be more serious, or a graduate worsening which could indicate a slow head bleed. o P – Does anything make it better or worse? I’m looking for if they’ve taken any OTC pain relievers, or maybe if it’s worse when they walk or run o Q – Can you describe the pain? Sharp or dull may mean different causes, throbbing vs. constant could be neuro or vascular o R – Does the pain go anywhere else? Radiation on a headache out of the head could be muscular o S – How bad is the pain? Someone with chronic migraines would have a good gauge of pain o T – How long has it been going on? Their history and time it took to call can be a big indicator on how serious they feel it is o AS – Do you have any problems with light or sound? This can be indicative of a migraine o PN – Do you have any nausea or dizziness? These can be signs of head injuries or other neurological issues.
