Carl has been using opioids for the past several years. He has been in treatment for the past 6 months and is currently clean. Carl recently injured his back and will require back surgery. The doctors have told Carl he will be placed back on opioid for pain management after the surgery is completed. Carl has been on Naltrexone to help with his recovery and avoid withdrawal symptoms. Carl’s past opioid use will not affect how the drug’s effect on him after the surgery.
